Apple Wants to Cut Artist’s Royaltess Down to 4%

It’s a shame the musicians are too busy making music to really focus on developing a business model that could put asshats like Apple and the RIAA out of of commission for good. Maybe someday…

I’d like to hear what you Apple loving freaks have to say about this, and possibly offer an explaination for the sinister acts of your seemingly benevolent corporation.

1. At $599, it is ridiculously expensive. (Add in the cost of an AT&T contract and you get close to $1500)

2. Those who want to buy one must sell their soul to evil mega-corporation AT&T.

3. Japan already has technologically superior phones, and they’re far cheaper.

4. Slower internet than the commercials show: “The data experience is going to be very slow. If you’re on a cellular network, [using the Internet] is going to be very slow.”

5. Initial reports indicate that YouTube is slow and crappy using cellular network internet/EDGE. It’s nothing like in the commercials.

6. You cannot remove its battery. Thanks for replicating one of the biggest complaints about the ipod, Apple!

7. The glass touch screen of the iPhone guarantees that thousands of customers who drop their phones will have cracked screens.

8. The touchscreen keyboard sucks, according to those who have used the phone.

9. It can’t send MMS picture messages.

10. The camera has little or no options, and the pictures it takes aren’t very good.

11. It lacks proper support for Flash websites. So much for the internet.

12. It can’t record video.

13. “Pinching” pictures to zoom might look neat in commercials, but many reviewers are saying it actually sucks.

14. It lacks 3G high-speed data transfer.

15. No songs as ringtones.

16. No GPS.

17. It doesn’t work under 64-bit Windows XP / Windows Vista!!!!!!! Thanks for not including that in your Windows System Requirements, Apple!

18. It only allows for a maximum of 1 picture to be attached to each e-mail you send.

19. It doesn’t have a file browser/organizer.

20. Its default ringtones suck.

21. You can not save documents on it: documents can only be viewed as attachments when they’re sent to your e-mail address.

22. No games!!

23. Its “quick list” dialing sucks compared to traditional speed dialing, which it lacks..

24. Long activation waits: many new iPhone users are reporting that they are being told to wait hours or even days to activate service for their phone. Thanks, AT&T!

25. Heat issues: the iPhone can get very hot when it is in use.

26. Deceptive Ads: Apple has been using models with gigantic hands in their advertisements for the iPhone in an effort to trick consumers into believing it is more compact.

27. Many of the positive press reports about the iPhone are influenced by newspapers and TV networks that simply want to profit from the hypefest, or even worse, reporters who are looking to sell books about the iPhone.

28. It creates incredibly annoying iPhone fanboys

OK, but let’s get back to the original question – What could/should Apple do to take sales and profits to the next level? Simple. Release an Apple branded Windows-based PC. Or think the idea of spending $2000 on an unupgradable PC that’s built into a computer monitor – so its nearly impossible for the layman to upgrade – is great. Maybe they like the neanderthal-esq discourse they get to engage in when they bring their machine into the Genius Bar and find out its going to cost $300 to get an extra gig of RAM – honestly I dont know what goes on in the mind of a Mac user, there’s really not much of a mind of things to go on in- but to each their own.

MacDailyNews Take: Why doesn’t BMW just start offering vehicles with 3-cylinder Suzuki engines? Kingsley-Hughes obviously doesn’t get it: Windows tries to be an upside-down and ass-backwards fake Mac; and an older Mac, at that. Based on history, one would imagine that Apple CEO Steve Jobs thinks Windoze is a bad rip-off of his own company’s OS, perpetrated and inflicted upon the world by Bill Gates. The very last thing that an Apple headed by Steve Jobs would ever do would be to execute Kingsley-Hughes’ dopey, wrong-headed lunacy.

The world made a mistake with Windows. They must be educated; and, slowly, they are learning. Windows is junk compared to Mac OS X. Frustrating, uninspiring, derivative junk. Offering junk when you have a vastly superior product is not a recipe for success.

Boot Camp exists to provide a “Windows Insecurity Blanket” for the ignorant masses. It is an educational tool. It embraces junk in order to ultimately extinguish it. Boot Camp entices the Windows-only sufferers and quickly teaches them via simple comparison that, contrary to their belief, they do not need Windows and that they greatly prefer Macintosh.

Ah, my dimbwitted Mac freakazoids, where did evolution go wrong? I think you need to understand that, Mac OSX is really not a ‘vastly superior product’…its just another way to interface with computer hardware that a very small minority of computer owners prefer. What’s that number again – 3%?

Windows is ‘frustrating and uninspiring’ only to people who can’t wipe their own ass, you jacknuts…have you ever even used Windows? Or, more likely, you’re the dyed in the wool Mac zealot who has been living in your own little microcosm of proprietary Apple crap since 1988.

I think the *real* reason the world prefers Windows is…maybe fancy pictures and silly animated icons really don’t hold as much weight as a massive array of quality 3rd party software? Or maybe that gaming is pretty much non-existant on your pretty white machines that cost three times as much as a Playstation 3?

I’m not going to knock Steve Job’s business leadership abilites – in my opinion the dude is a genius. He’s taken an everyday object that everyone pretty much needs (a computer), slapped on some fancy cosmetics and has somehow convinced millions that it’s worth an extra $600 to use an OS that can’t do anything more than the FREE and better looking UBuntu flavor of Linux.

If you like the mac OS and have decided that it works better for you than Windows, than power to you. The choice of the OS you can run on the computer that YOU paid for should not be dictated to you by some corporation…but of course, Apple thinks so. For anyone reading this, there are MANY alternatives to both windows AND mac that might suit your needs better than both of those – the many versions of Linux, x86 based Solaris10 from Sun Microsystems, FreeBSD, maybe even a new release of the Amiga OS if those folks can get that concept off the ground.

The biggest reason that Apple wont open up the OS to run on any Intel based PC, or ship their PC’s with windows, is because it will destroy the illusion that the Macintosh is ’special’. And that by purchasing this expensive device, you are now special too. This is pure corporate marketing BS – and a primary driver of Mac fanboyism. Which, in my opinion, is a heineous disease.

There is nothing special about a Macintosh – other than the fact that you’ve just been especially ripped off if you just bought one.

I love the comparison MacFreaks try to make between a mac and a fine automobile like a BMW too…what a load of crap. If you open up that iMac, its using the same CPU, the same RAM, the same hardrives as a $400 HP that you can buy from Wal-Mart for $500. Picture BMW using a Chevy drivetrain and then charging you a premium for it. THAT’s Apple.
(not that there’s anything wrong with a Chevy – there’s nothing wrong with the Intel Core2Duo inside that Mac either)
