16 Worst Apple Products of All Time

Lookeehere! A mountain of crap that apple didnt ‘do better’…

The Oobject Rotten Apple Award. To mark this week’s 10th anniversary of the death of the Newton we have picked some of the products from Apple, that we’d rather forget.

We could have picked many more from the years when Jobs was in the wilderness and Apple attempted to be market driven rather than design driven, under Sculley. Reactive rather than pro-active. One problem, the gallery would have been a sea of similar, anonymous items. For the Sculley era machines, assume that we mean every product in the range.

Vote for your all time worst product….

    Fastest: Apple MacBook Pro
The fastest Windows Vista notebook we’ve tested this year is a Mac. Try that again: The fastest Windows Vista notebook we’ve tested this year–or for that matter, ever–is a Mac. Not a Dell, not a Toshiba, not even an Alienware. The $2419 (plus the price of a copy of Windows Vista, of course) MacBook Pro’s PC WorldBench 6 Beta 2 score of 88 beats Gateway’s E-265M by a single point, but the MacBook’s score is far more impressive simply because Apple couldn’t care less whether you run Windows.

  2. That’s really impressive Mike, seriously. A good article too. However, some points I’d like to bring up:

Notice in the ‘cons’ section – That $3k Macbook Pro’s harddrive is NOT user accessible. While I’m sure it is well built and mighty fast, it specs out less than this model from ASUS:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220215

Which probably wasn’t available at the time of the review. Also take note: The ASUS model has a bigger, faster hard drive, allows for overclocking in the BIOS, and is $700 cheaper. You’d have to drop another 2GB in there to equal the MacBook’s 4GB – so let’s be fair and say the MacBook Pro is only a ~$500 premium.

It’s a good piece of hardware, I have to admit. But its not the be all, end all of PC performance in its price range.

  3. You keep comparing speed/GPU/hard drive of Mac vs Pc.
Yep, you are right, you can build a freakingly hot PC for the price of a low end Mac.
    Okay.
A few years ago. I was able to buy some really neat Volvo’s. I got three of them, one after the other. Used 240′s.
They were rolling tanks, but I managed to get them at an insane speed and get out of it alive.
These years, my fastest car is a tweaked Doge Neon. Boy, this thing sticks to the road and I can push it at 150 m/h wihtout a hiccup. Real fun car.
    Still, I miss my Volvo’s.

Sometimes, you can enjoy a somewhat slower car because you feel better in it.
    So…

  5. Mike,

That’s very cool you build up Volvos! Also cool that you are driving a tweaked Neon.

I think, that if you are making analogies to computers, that all your cars are Windows based machines…because you can’t tweak or customize a Mac…

  6. I think it is good to point out that you, Mike, brought up the speed issue first.

  7. This is not the first post I reply to, so, no, I did not bring it first.

As for building V’s, they are not for tweakers. Neon are.

What is so hot about building its computer? I have built customs Pc’s more often than not (hey, since Win 3.1!). I have also built a G3 from random parts fitted in a led-lit PC case. All that was fun at first but it gets boring after the fifth or sixth. Let us be realistic. Even if you build the top kick-ass PC today, and you feel king of the hill, your beast will be grandmother-worthy sooner or later. And no matter how you tweak Windows, Ubuntu will alway kick its ass… because Win is really a steaming pile of crap. In fact, too many users stick to it because this is the place to play pirated games.

  8. Mike,

    [SuckMyBalls]
Please explain how Windows is a “steaming pile of crap”, as you so eloquently put it. Is it really possible that 90% of the worlds computers are crap?
As far as Ubuntu goes, try performing any of your daily tasks on the big U as you would Windows out of the box and tell me how that goes for you. Don’t get me wrong, I like Ubuntu but it has a ways to go before it can offer users some of the basics that Windows does currently, or 1995 :) .
I don’t think I know one person using Windows strictly due to the fact that they want to play pirated games, but that was a good try.
    [/SuckMyBalls]

    Thanks!
    SuckThis

  9. “Is it really possible that 90% of the worlds computers are crap?”

Not their computers. Their OS. Windows is the only OS that can destruct itself on showing “ntldr missing” as the only clue. For myself, I can play with the recovery console enough to get out of it, but not John Q. Public. (you see, it is my job since many years to fix computers.). For the average guy, surfing the web and unkwowlingly grabbing sypwares is nothing unusual. Don’t tell me otherwise, I keep cleaning those shits weaklongs. I bet you can keep your PC clean. My sister can’t.

“As far as Ubuntu goes, try performing any of your daily tasks on the big U as you would Windows out of the box and tell me how that goes for you.”

Errr… I do that daily. And faster. Can you please explain why you think U is like you say?

“I don’t think I know one person using Windows strictly due to the fact that they want to play pirated games, but that was a good try.”

“strictly” no. “mostly’, many. I chose not to talk about “fear of something different”, as I felt it offensive, but now I regret it. So many users are freaklingly lost without a Start menu.

SuckThis, I believe your people and yourself are probably fairly technologicaly competent. So am I. But I know that Joe Trucker wants to copy his brother-in-law’s games for free. Or find messenger in the start menu. It is so usual. simple… by habitude. It is so hard to learn something new…

I would like to have more people chose Windows… by choice. Try Ub for a week, try OSX for a week. If after that you say Win is your choice, I won’t say a thing. But in real life, John Plumber enters Future Shop and the only choice he has is Windows Vista and nothing else (for god sake, you probably run XP or 2000 pro, you know what I mean).

That won’t explain why 90% or computers are running Windows. Only partially.

  10. Microsoft is being sued over how crappy Vista is. Apparently it’s such a hog that it barely ran on many “Vista Ready” computers (probably the same cheap-ass configurations that Windows fanboys use to “prove” that Macs are overpriced by comparison). Now they are facing a class action suit brought by the suckers that believed the “Vista Ready” stickers. Serves them all right, the liars and the suckers.

    http://apcmag.com/8344/has_vista_lost_all_credibility

Why are 90% of computers running Windows? Can you spell “Lemmings”? I knew you could.

  11. You know nothing of Vista, fanboy. Nor of building and configuring a PC, so keep you half ass opinions to yourself. Vista64 is a really good OS, performs well and is more stable than XP on a computer that can run it – which is pretyt much any computer that you’d buy these days.

The ‘Vista Sucks’ conspiracy was started by Steve Jobs and his loser cronies at Crapple, and it’s caught on due to Apple’s current popularity as a ‘cool’ company.

Let me tell you something, MacFreak. Microsoft is the wellspring from which you flow, and always will dominate the home computer market AND the buisiness world. While the little MacOPhiles of the world sip their lattes and wear their berrets…you all disgust me.

Not only can I spell Lemmings, I can spell “Mac Sucks Balls” faster than you can shake a Macbook Air. Which, I might add, is a worthless pile of overpriced shit – just like all of Apple’s products.

  12. @admin

“Microsoft is the wellspring from which you flow”

ROTFL You are delusional. Can I have some of what you’re smoking?

Windows 95 was a poor copy of the original Mac OS just as Vista is a poor copy of Mac OS X.

Yes, Mac uses have been saying all along that Windows sucks compared to “the real thing”. But now a large number of Vista owners have discovered the horrible truth themselves. You’re just bitter because you know it’s the truth. Maybe Vista is tolerable on high-end hardware, and for geeks like you who know how to troubleshoot driver issues, but the general consensus is that Vista is a miserable letdown. Over a year after its release, businesses are still holding off on deploying Vista. Even Steve Jobs’ famous reality distortion field isn’t powerful enough to account for that.

I’ll be enjoying my latte while you fiddle with BIOS settings and update your virus software.
