I've been using OS-X for over five years with no third-party virus protection software installed and have never suffered from any type of malware (other than the Microsoft apps I've installed:). Apple's software update feature provides regular security updates as necessary. I'm not saying that Macs are inherently immune to attack or will always remain so-- just that in reality (where some of us actually reside), security problems are a non-issue. Ho hum.
